New Joint Venture to Specialise in Corporate Wellness & Dealing
with
" The Unspoken Corporate Epidemics of the 21st Century"
When Paddy Creedon gave a similar title (Addiction -" The Unspoken
Corporate Epidemics of the 21st Century") to his MBA project thesis
in Belgium last year little did he realise that it would also become
the driving force and launch pad for a new and exciting joint venture
with a colleague and fellow practitioner Ms. Terri Morrissey. With
alcohol abuse and alcoholism costing the Irish economy between 1%-3%
of its GDP with an estimated 50% of that cost being borne by Corporate
Ireland top Irish consultants at the Corporate Wellness Partnership
will address this current hot topic, as well as other people issues
in the workplace. This new joint venture has been set up by two
of Ireland's most prominent management consultants to specialise
in corporate wellness, particularly in the areas of addiction, substance
abuse, stress and dysfunctional behaviours in the workplace.
Terri Morrissey has moved from Emerge Smart after ten years as a
partner and senior consultant to set up "Corporate Wellness Partnership"
in a joint venture with Paddy Creedon of Creedon and Creedon Ltd.
Said Terri Morrissey : "Awareness of societal costs, risk management
issues and the negative impact to both the bottom line and image
to Corporate Ireland is at an all time high. Alcohol abuse alone
is estimated to cost economies between 1% to 3% of GDP which in
Ireland last year would have amounted to a minimum of EURO 400 million
- other studies suggest that almost 50% of that cost is borne by
Corporate Ireland.
"Some companies have Employee Assistance Programmes (EAP's) which
help in this area but who helps the employers or the managers?
In the words of Paddy Creedon "Corporate Wellness Partnership (CWP)
will
- Conduct a corporate wellness audit of your company,
- Facilitate a review of your polices in this area,
- Benchmark against best international practice,
- Train managers and team leaders specifically on how to identify
and address many of the problems which are costing them and their
employees enormously in financial and human terms.
- Provide on-going support and an evaluation methodology on how
well the company is doing in this area."
"This audit process will address alcohol and drug related issues
and costs associated with
- Absenteeism,
- Presenteeism (where employees are present but not performing),
- Accidents in the workplace,
- Reduced performance,
- Turnover and replacement of staff,
- Theft and fraud,
- Insurance and legal costs,
- Opportunity costs (where not taking action is costing the company)
- Industrial relations and team morale," said Ms Morrissey.
Paddy Creedon said: "Terri and I are currently developing some
new and innovative management tools and services in the niche area
of solving difficult people issues in the workplace. Managers are
trained to manage but they are seldom skilled up or trained to handle
problem-causing employees. We will clearly identify the problems
managers are facing and recommend strategies to deal with them effectively
and efficiently."
Terri Morrissey and Paddy Creedon also offer a wide range of consultancy
services in leadership, mentoring, change management facilitation,
and behavioural modification.
